We run analysis after analysis to inform specific decisions, and then we throw them away. I think we could be building a theory of what moves the business.
Introducing Breakdown
A metric tree is a DAG, and a DAG is something you can compute over. Breakdown is an open source engine for building metric trees and running rigorous root cause analysis over them.
Why is data hard?
An accountant asked me why data is so hard. It made me think about the root causes of everything that can go wrong in delivering even the most basic analytics.
Measure what (really) matters
Companies developed good methods and tools around business analytics. Mission-driven companies can use those tools to measure social and environmental impacts.
