Welcome to the Polyculture Research Blog

Welcome to the Polyculture Research Blog

I’m excited to launch this blog as a space to share insights at the intersection of data science and sustainability.

What to expect

Here you’ll find posts covering:

  • Practical analytics guidance — How to build dashboards that actually get used, metrics that drive decisions, and data infrastructure that scales with your business
  • Sustainability measurement — From carbon accounting to supply chain transparency, how to quantify environmental impact in meaningful ways
  • Lessons from the field — Real experiences from building data functions at startups and conducting environmental research

Why “Polyculture”?

In agriculture, polyculture means growing multiple crops together—creating resilient, productive systems that mimic natural ecosystems. It’s the opposite of monoculture, where you optimize for a single output at the expense of everything else.

I think about analytics the same way. The best data practices aren’t just about maximizing one metric. They’re about building systems that help you understand your business holistically—the revenue and the retention, the growth and the sustainability.
